Ms. Copeland’s nonprofit experience began directing D.A.R.E. Inc.,. a for-profit subsidiary of D.A.R.E. America Worldwide, She was responsible for a $7 million portfolio of revenue-generating programs sponsored by Mattel, M&M/MARS, Kmart Corporation, Peoples Telephone, Polaroid Corporation, and Protection One. Ms. Copeland promoted programs throughout the DARE Network (35,000 officers/35 million users), and created the first Sponsor’ Round Table, resulting in a one-million pallet POS promotion of M&M/D.A.R.E. candies at Kmart Super Stores. As a lead project director on a consulting assignment, she converted a small business unit of a $733 MM 501(c) nonprofit into a for-profit corporation, co-leading marketing and sales implementation, re-positioning communication channels, and directing the 60-person combined consultant and client team. This work resulted in first year client earnings of $18 million and $7 million in consulting revenue.

Traditional Fundraising
Ms. CopelandĀ  worked as an immersed Development Director for Agape International Spiritual Center and the Centers for Spiritual Living (formerly United Church of Religious Science) as part of her consulting practice, MLC & Company. In these roles, she authored Strategic Development Plans and directing annual giving, capital campaigns, bequest programs, trust relationships, stewardship, and donor cultivation. Monica Lee has successfully secured a $1 million dollar bequest and individual gifts between $25,000 and $100,000.

Gala Strategy and Implementation
The Pasadena Pops Orchestra, KidSave International, Agape International Spiritual Center, and Verbui Dei High School have retained Ms. Copeland’s firm, MLC & Company to produceĀ  their annual galas. She has also organized special events like D.A.R.E.’s America’s Boxers Against Violence, which raised $10 million in one evening Her gala expertise includes:
